City of Bones Book CoverAs the first book it sets up the story of Clary Fray, a young girl who suddenly starts seeing things other’s can’t and it results in her being pulled into an entirely new world she didn’t know existed. The biggest catalyst for the events of the book is Clary’s mother goes missing and Clary sets on a mission to get her back, delving her deeper into a world of werewolves, vampires, faeries, demons, and shadowhunters.

Overall, I really liked this book. The characters were fun, each one very different from the others. I had read this a long time ago, so I already knew/remembered the overall story. I had also seen the movie, which was a huge flop, and excited to see the new TV series they are coming out with. It is a very cool world that Clare created with interesting back stories and details I am interested in continuing to learn about.

I would recommend this books to others who enjoy fantasy books.

Favorite Part: When they discuss/describe the history of the shadowhunters and the circle

Least Favorite Part: How easily Jace believes the story of who his “real” father is, and then helps him? It just seemed almost forced/unlike Jace to just fall in line and take orders
